1.Every person dreams of a beautiful snow-white smile. What do you think of as a dentist, how can it be achieved?
"The smile lasts for a moment, and memories of it remain forever" - once told me one of my patients, asking me to make her a smile that she saw celebrity had from TV screen in front of us. In the people, it is still called
"Hollywood". The main requirement to me, as to the dentist, was minimal interference with the tissues of the tooth.
Based on the basic and most important principles of aesthetics in dentistry, I analyzed the photos and did live interview with the patient which is crucial. It gives me a chance to observe manners and style of communication from which I diagnosed the situation in the oral cavity, and I suggested the veneers, and lumineers for some of the teeth in this particular situation.
Veneers - these are ultra thin ceramic or composite lining on the front surface of the tooth, designed to mask all the disadvantages that concern the patient.
2. What are the disadvantages of teeth most often masked veneers?
The main ones are:
1. Change the color of the tooth due to:
- treatment of channels;
- use of tetracycline antibiotics;
- large amount of fluorine.
2. The presence of large seals on the anterior teeth.
3. The presence of large gaps between the teeth.
4. Teeth irregularly or weirdly shaped (in the case when a person refuses orthodontic treatment).
3. What is the difference between veneers and lumineers?
The difference between them is that under the fluorine tooth does not have to be prepared, that is to cure at all, and under veneers it is done, at least, literally 0,5-2 mm for leveling the surface of the tooth. However, it must be remembered that the choice of design is very individual and the fact that the neighbor's Peter came up does not always fit Oksana's neighbor.
4.Veneers and Lumineers: their main advantages and disadvantages.
Veneers and lumineers have some obvious advantages:
-provide the natural appearance of teeth;
-does not cause an inflammatory process in the gums;
-color can be selected individually to the patient's desire;
And with proper and responsible care from the patient side, they will serve for decades.
As for the disadvantages, it can be said that veneers began to be used before the Second World War, and perhaps then it would be possible to talk about the negative side effects right away. But now, when everything is improved and developing, the disadvantages are reduced to practically zero. And those that exist are only due to the careless and inappropriate attitude of a person. For example, there may be a crack on the surface of the veneer. And the deeper it is, the harder it is to disguise it, in some cases it is impossible at all.
It's worth remembering that this can easily be avoided, following the simple advice and recommendations of the dentist.
Somewhat remember the words of John Faber: "A smile costs nothing, but it gives a lot. It enriches the one who receives it, not impoverishing the one who gives it. "
